Adis is looking for a House in Cavite

February 23, Saturday, I received a call from Adis that she wants to look for a house. She is actually on the way to Cavite; she is asking if we can accompany her. She already had a contact agent. After following the instructions that the agent gave to Adis; we finally found the location of the house. At first I did not want the location. It is very far and only few houses are already occupied. I told Adis that Ate Maricris have a friend who is an agent. Along the way to Ate – we passed some subdivisions, and we tried to look at it. Some of them were good; but we do not have an agent to give us the details and sample computation of the house. When we arrived at Ate’s house; she called her friend; but she was not available at that moment. We still decided to go instead (there is nobody to look after Kyla, so she went with us); just to look for the location and the model house. Kyla thought that Adrian is waiting in the car. We followed the signs to the location of the house this time, but when we feel that the house is getting far, we decide to pull over. Being tired and exhausted; we decided to drive through Jollibee and order some snacks.

Ate will just ask her agent for the computations of the house models that we saw.

2008 Technical Symposium

February 22, Friday, I attended the Technical Symposium at The Bellevue Manila, at Alabang. My husband is not invited to the event so I ask one of my co-engineer (and Friend) to pick me up at DasmariƱas Town proper. At the town proper we saw Genesis (Godfather of Adrian) is already there waiting for Alain. After knowing that I already had a companion; my husband left me there with Genesis (he still has to meet his friend at Makati).

After few minutes, Alain arrived. We decided took the shortcut road to Alabang, because it is already 7:00am. We are already in the bridge when we stopped, we thought that is just ordinary stop, but when we saw cars (actually we saw the car of a co-employee) in front of us taking a u-turn; that’s when we think that there might be an incident or something (then we saw a sign that the road ahead is under repair).

We arrived exactly at the hotel; the program has not yet started. That morning five out of eleven presenters are from our group (Equipment Engineering). They will present their technical paper and will bid for the technical paper of the year and cash prize worth forty thousand pesos. Last year our group won the second place; we are hoping to get the first place this year. The program is not only purely technical; to make it lighter some intermission numbers were inserted to the program. The much awaited was announced at around 5:00pm. Third place was from our group, the second place is also fro our group, unfortunately; the first place was awarded to another group. We may not get the first place, but we had the third and second place. We are about to go; when our manger approach us (he was in China the whole week for a meeting) that he will treat us at the near restaurant. We are not expecting him to attend; because he just arrived from the airport.

At the end, we are still happy event we have not bagged the first place. Next year, we are hoping that we can get it.

At Last!

We had submitted our thesis last February 12 for the inital review of our advisers and then returned to them last February 15 for the final review; and today we went to TUP Manila to submit the 6 copies of the final and approved thesis. At last we made it! After weeks of sleepless nights; last week we stay late until 12 midnight and last saturday I stayed upto 2:00am. Upon submitting the papers, the cahirman of the board told us that our defense will be this coming February 26. We have to prepare a powerpoint presentation of our project. My time will be at 8:00am, while my husband will present right after me at around 10:00am.

After TUP, we decided to go to MOA. I had to buy a new pair of shoes for the coming technical symposium (this friday). We also promised a basket ball ring for Adrian. He used to have one, but it broke when he tried to do a slum dunk on it. Last weekend he ask me to hang his halloween basket, I only realized that he will make it a basket ball ring when he get his basketball and tried to shoot on it. We also bought tokens that will be given to our panel and advisers on the date of the defense. We choosed thermal mug because professors love to drink coffe and they will sure like it; among the choices were planners, parker ballpen, and paper weights.

Kyla’s 7th Birthday

February 10, Sunday, we celebrate the 7th birthday of Kyla. Actually Feruary 12 is her real birthday, but since it falls on a Monday, Ate decided to hold a small family gathering for her birthday celebration. I brought a cake, I also cooked chopsuey as requested by Ate, and a mango float (graham cake with ripe magoes). We arrived at their house at around 3pm, they already have visitors from the side of her father which includes her Lola, Lolo, some aunties/uncles and cousins.

Ate Maricel and Adis, together with Kuya Jimmy and Charlie arrived at around 4pm, they brought ice cream, donuts, and some sweet treats for the kids.

Matet and Jr were not able to come because they are busy with their school projects – it is near the end of the last semester.

Mama and Papa were also missed this event, because they are already tired. Their eatery has the most number of customers during Sundays.

Kyla was waiting for them, so we decided to call them. They told Kyla they will visit her or we can still have a gathering on March which is Mama’s birthday.

My Husband went to DBTC

February 2, Saturday, My husband woke up early this morning, actually he just woke me up when he is about to go. He already ate his breakfast, from the left over last night. He told me that his classmates were already waiting for him to pick them up at the town proper.

My husband together with his college schoolmates/co-employees; went to their alma mater – Don Bosco Technical College at Mandaluyong. It is because representatives from Schlumberger will be conducting a scheduled examination for their company on that day. My husband is not that too eager to work abroad. He will rather to stay here with us; but since this is a big company and a different one from what he is doing right now, he wants to give it a try.

At around 2pm in the afternoon, while I was doing the laundry, I heard someone is opening the gate, and our dog tornado is not barking; well because it is my husband. He broke in the bad news that he was not able to make it; but it is not really a bad news at all. He told me that our friend Francis with other co-employees was able to make it. The next step for them is to pass the first interview. At around 6pm that night one of his friends sent a text message that only Francis had made it for the final interview which is set tomorrow. Out of the 30 that undergone the first interview they only selected 11.

We knew it already at first that Francis will make it. I handled him for almost two years as my technician, before he was transferred to product engineering.

Adrian has a Fever

February 1, Friday, I decide not to report to work because Adrian still has a fever. His fever started yesterday afternoon, Claire called us from work to tell us that Adrian is not feeling well. Adrian actually spoke with us in the telephone and told us “Sakit ng ulo ko”, so have to cancel our plan to go to the mall after work and we took the shortcut road to our house. His fever reads at 38.7; I instructed Claire to give him paracetamol. The time that we arrived he already feeling well; although there still a slight fever. That night we decided that I will not go to work to observe my son, while my husband already committed to relieve his co-technician who is on leave on that day.

Adrian is already well; his temperature is on normal the whole day. We are very thankful the fever goes away.
